Wine Cellar Conditioning

Wine cellar conditioning holds your cellar at the right temperature and humidity all year round, protecting corks, labels and the wine itself.

Two Simn split systems, sized for cellars from 10 to 60 cubic metres. Cooling, heating, humidification and dehumidification in one unit, controlled from a touch panel on the wall.

Every Simn unit comes with a 12 month warranty covering manufacturing defects under normal use.

Full specifications, sizing guidance and installation requirements are below. Not sure which unit you need? Send our team a request and we will confirm.

Why a cellar needs more than cooling

Cold air alone will ruin your wine

A household air conditioner cannot hold 12 degrees, and it dries the air out while it runs. Low humidity shrinks corks, lets air into the bottle and lifts labels off the glass.

Temperature and humidity have to be controlled together, every day of the year. That is the difference between a cold room and a cellar.

One system

Four functions in a single unit

Most cellars need all four across a year. These units switch between them automatically.

Cooling

Holds the cellar as low as 8 degrees, colder than a domestic air conditioner can reach.

Dehumidification

Pulls moisture out of damp cellars, which is most below ground cellars in Australia.

Humidification

A wet pad system adds moisture back when the air dries, protecting corks and labels.

Heating

Electric heating holds temperature through winter, so the cellar stays stable both ways.

Two sizes

Choose your unit

Both are split systems, with an indoor unit serving the cellar and an outdoor condenser. Measure your cellar in metres, length by width by height, then pick by volume. If you are close to the boundary, or the cellar is above ground or lightly insulated, size up.

Questions

Before you order

What temperature and humidity should a wine cellar be?

Reds keep best at 12 to 16 degrees and whites at 8 to 12, both at 60 to 70 percent humidity. These units hold anywhere from 8 to 18 degrees.

Can I install it myself?

No. Both units are split systems containing refrigerant and are installed by a qualified refrigeration specialist.

How noisy is it?

42 dB(A) on the 10-30m³ unit and 48 dB(A) on the larger one. That is quieter than normal conversation.

Will it work in a below ground cellar?

Yes. Below ground cellars are usually damp, which is what the dehumidification function is for. Where there is no gravity fall for drainage, an optional high lift pump handles it.

Does it run all year?

Yes. It is built for continuous operation and both cools and heats, so your cellar stays steady through summer and winter.

What size do I need?

Multiply length by width by height in metres. Up to 30 cubic metres takes the 10-30m³ unit, 30 to 60 the larger one. Send us your measurements and we will confirm.

What your installer needs to allow for

  • Maintenance access panel, at least 400 x 600 mm in the ceiling near the control box
  • Water supply for the humidifier, with the supplied solenoid valve fitted before the copper pipework
  • Drain with a trap, falling at least 2 percent
  • Ductwork no longer than 2 metres from the air outlet
  • Pipe runs up to 5 metres as standard, then 70 g of refrigerant per extra metre
